Find your coffee
Answer 8 questions and discover your taste profile: which kinds of coffee really suit you (body, aromas, intensity), and of course the Verri coffees that match it best. Artisan roasting since 1931.
How our coffee quiz works
Every Verri coffee is profiled by our roasters on three parameters (body, acidity and caffeine, on a 1-to-5 scale) plus its ideal brewing method. The quiz compares your answers with these real profiles and finds the best match, suggesting the coffee closest to your taste. No magic: just the experience of a roastery since 1931, turned into tailored advice.
How to choose your coffee: the roaster’s guide
“Which is your best coffee?” We’ve been asked for ninety years, and the honest answer is that there isn’t one. There’s the right coffee for you. Five criteria are enough to find it, the same ones the quiz above is built on.
1. Body: how much “weight” you want in the cup
Body is the texture you feel on the palate: a light coffee flows and accompanies, a full one fills the mouth and lingers. Neither is better than the other.
There’s only one case where body is non-negotiable: cappuccino. Milk covers everything, and a thin coffee disappears.
2. Arabica and robusta: where the aromas come from
The brightness you taste, or don’t, mostly comes down to the two species. Arabica grows at altitude, ripens slowly and develops sweet, lively aromas: caramel, citrus, flowers. Robusta grows lower, withstands everything and brings body, dense crema and notes of cocoa and earth. Our CasaVerri blends are a scale of ratios between the two, from 100% arabica Gentile to 100% robusta Tosta, while each single origin tells the story of one terroir.
3. Roasting: where character is born
It’s been our craft since 1931: roasting decides more than most people think. At lighter roasts the bean keeps its acidity and origin aromas, fruit and flowers; as it darkens it gains body, cocoa and toasted notes, and loses brightness. There’s no single right point: there’s the right one for each bean, which is why at Verri every origin gets its own roasting curve.
4. Caffeine: read the robusta percentage
According to the International Coffee Organization, an arabica bean holds 1.0-1.5% caffeine; robusta reaches 2.7%, nearly double. More robusta in the blend, more kick in the cup. And for the evening there’s Ribelle Dek: the caffeine goes, body and aroma stay.
5. Blend or single origin?
A blend is the roaster’s recipe: several origins dosed so the cup stays the same, bag after bag. A single origin is one terroir in its pure form, with the nuances of each harvest. Reassurance or discovery.
One last thing: your machine decides the format
How you brew doesn’t change which coffee is right for you, only the form to buy it in: whole beans if you own a grinder, because grinding fresh keeps aromas no package can hold, or ground coffee already calibrated, medium for the moka pot and fine for espresso. That’s exactly what the quiz’s first question is for.
Five criteria are a lot to juggle in front of a shelf. The quiz above crosses them for you in eight questions: start there and get to your coffee with the profile already done.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the right coffee for a moka pot?
For the moka, pick a medium grind and a full-bodied blend: our CasaVerri Vintage and Sincera, or the Brazil and India single origins, shine in the moka with dense crema and a round aroma. Our quiz guides you in 8 questions.
Which coffee is best for cappuccino?
Cappuccino needs a coffee with enough body to stand up to milk: intense blends like CasaVerri Audace, Tosta or Vintage keep their taste and aroma even under steamed milk.
What is the difference between a blend and a single origin?
A blend combines several origins for a consistent, balanced taste; a single origin comes from one place and expresses its unique character: the acidity, notes and body typical of that land. The quiz helps you choose by taste.
Is whole-bean coffee better than ground or capsules?
Freshly ground whole-bean coffee keeps far more aroma than capsules or pods, which lose freshness over time. With a good espresso machine or a moka and a grinder, you go back to the real taste of fresh coffee.
How does the “Find your coffee” quiz work?
Answer 8 questions about method, body, aromas, milk, timing and caffeine: our system compares your preferences with the real profile (body, acidity, caffeine) of each Verri coffee and suggests the closest blend or single origin, with one or more alternatives.
Should I choose arabica or robusta coffee?
It depends on what you want in the cup: arabica gives sweet, lively aromas with less caffeine; robusta gives body, dense crema and nearly twice the kick. Our blends dose them in different ratios for exactly this reason.
Which coffee has the most caffeine?
The one with the most robusta: a robusta bean holds up to 2.7% caffeine against arabica’s 1.0-1.5% (ICO data). Brewing matters too: with the same blend, a moka pot extracts more caffeine than an espresso shot. After the kick? Check the robusta percentage. Avoiding it? Go 100% arabica or decaf.
