Andrea Verri, a young man from Pavia coming from a family of beekeepers, took over in 1929 in Piedmont, in Borgosesia, a historic grocery store from the 1800s, where he sold raw coffee. In a short time, he decided to start roasting the finest and most sought-after coffees. He handcrafted a wood-fired roaster in the outdoor space of his business, and in 1931 the activity officially became a roasting company, among the first to be established in Italy.
Towards the middle of the last century, the founder decided to abandon retail sales to focus on wholesale. His expertise in the field, his knowledge of the product, and his passion for coffee were increasingly appreciated: the number of consumers wanting Caffè Verri grew, and Andrea reached them on his bicycle, delivering roasted coffee on a horse-drawn cart.
Upon Andrea's passing in the 1960s, his son Giancarlo took over, and collaboration began with the Mercandelli family, then owners of the company producing Victoria Arduino coffee machines, an international symbol of coffee and Italian style. The collaboration led to a significant expansion beyond the borders of Piedmont, into neighboring regions. In 1966, Caffè Verri could boast of being the roasting company with license number 1 in the entire province of Vercelli. The partnership between the Verri and Mercandelli families was increasingly strengthened, and the size of Caffè Verri was continuously expanding, thus requiring a complete restructuring of the company to meet the constantly increasing customer demands: in 1996, Caffè Verri became D.G.C.- Distribution of Colonial Goods, owner of the Caffè Verri brand, and began expanding into foreign countries, even outside European borders.

The challenge posed by the international market is becoming increasingly captivating and interesting for D.G.C., which today presents itself in an innovative and aggressive manner in new emerging markets such as Poland, China, Malaysia, and Japan. In 2006, the company entered the vending world by becoming a partner of Vamm S.r.l., a company based in Borgosesia specialized in the marketing and installation of automatic machines for coffee distribution. Today, the offering is more complete and innovative than ever. The historic range of products is also available on the e-shop, and it is possible to visit the company showroom at the Dormelletto facility, where gradual training courses are organized covering all aspects of the coffee world (Green Coffee - Roasting - Espresso - Brewing, etc...). D.G.C. continues its mission to put quality first and is ready to face the new challenges of the market while remaining true to its values, recognized by a growing customer satisfaction from loyal clients.
